Author Jan Pêt Khorto reads Helvedes Fristelser (Temptations of Hell – غواياتُ جحيم) in Arabic, in a video produced and edited by Balal Jabar. In the same video, his translator June Dahy reads the poem in Danish.

Jan Pêt Khorto is a Syrian Kurdish poet, writer, and journalist. He currently lives in Copenhagen, Denmark. In 2010, he founded a newspaper that focused on the living conditions and stories of asylum seekers in Denmark. The newspaper lasted 11 months. Jan is a co-founder of the Syrian Cultural Institute in Denmark.

Two of Jan’s five poetry collections were translated and published in Denmark: Helveds Fristelser (2011) and Edens Vugge – Hviskende Skæbner fra Syrien (2016). His last poetry collectionin Arabic was published by the Egyptian Ministry of Culture in 2017.
